I want to end any speculation and uncertainty. I am today announcing my decision to seek the Conservative nomination to run for a second term as Mayor of London.
I always said that I would think hard about this decision in the autumn of 2010. And I always said that if I felt things were going well – and if I thought my team had more to deliver for London – then it would be crazy not to put myself forward for the party to consider.
When we came to City Hall in 2008 we found a dysfunctional and spendthrift administration that was pursuing old-fashioned policies of playing one community group off against another.
Our priorities were simple: to cut crime, to protect green space in London, to improve public transport, to build more affordable housing than any previous mayoralty – and to keep London going and growing through the deepest recession in living memory.
Despite all the difficulties we have faced – and deep cuts in all Whitehall budgets – I believe we have made great progress in all these areas.
With every day that passes I have come to love and understand the complexities and challenges of this job – and I also see how much more there is to do.
With your help, I believe we have now forged a first rate team in the government of London: committed to sensible policies of reducing waste, but working flat out to make this city an ever more attractive and competitive place to live.
I will continue to work with every fibre of my being to accomplish the tasks we set ourselves in 2008.
And I hope very much that I can count on your support as I seek to run for a second term as the Mayor of the greatest city on earth. I urge you to visit my website to get involved or find out more.

I don’t live in London, so I won’t be in a position to vote when the time comes, but I do believe having the right Mayor for our capital city is a matter of national importance because the way London is run is absolutely crucial to our tourist industry, our international trade, and following from those things, our reputation in the world.
I think you’re the right man for the job.

Boris is a First Class Mayor and I hope we get Boris for a second term. He has been an absolute credit to London. He will be a first class credit when the city hosts the games and there after.

Go for it Boris! Keep Ken Livingstone, that ridiculous parasitic wrecker, well away from the reins of power so that he can do no more damage. His brand of socialism is ludicrous! Lets make London the freedom and free enterprise capital of the world once more.

Dear Boris,
Once again good luck, we registered our support! You are the only man that a) can and b) should be Mayor of London, as already stated, no contest.
London people would be making a big mistake by not voting for Boris Johnson, not only with regards to London but also in the National Interest. Particularly so, given the following observation from this week:
All Conservatives – Excellent performance and demonstration of substance @ #cpc10, Boris Johnson you are absolutely no exception to this.
Best Regards, Heston CDA
