Loughborough Conservative Future is delighted to announce that we managed to raise almost £200 for national charity Help4Heroes at our popular annual Christmas Dinner on Saturday 12th December 2009.
As keen supporters of the work that Help4Heroes carries out in supporting injured servicemen and women, we were delighted to have raised such a respectable amount for the charity whilst having a great time in the process. “I know that the money raised will make a real difference to somebody’s life”, said Conservative Future member and Charnwood Borough councillor Stephen Hodgson.
We hold regular and diverse events and have become invaluable in Nicky Morgan’s campaign to become the next Conservative MP for Loughborough, frequently organising campaign days, helping the local Conservatives to stay in touch with local voters. “We have worked hard this year to support Nicky Morgan’s campaign and the annual Christmas Dinner was a great chance to relax after a busy year. It’s fantastic that we could also use the event to raise money for Help4Heroes. I know that this money will really help the charity to continue their hugely important work helping injured troops and their families”, concluded Stephen Hodgson.

It’s really heartening to read something like this. We all honour those who have died foe Queen and Country in Afghanistan, and so we should. Too often, though, our wounded get less attention, even when they have suffered the truly terrible injuries landmines can inflict. So, well done Stephen, Nicky and all your team; good luck with this campaign and let’s all make sure we don’t forget those who have had to pay such a haeavy price for defending us all.

It seems like we have plenty of money to chuck about at Green summits but not very much to give to those that have been sent to wars by the same person/people.
