Why I’ve decided to join the Conservatives

Mohammad, Monday, December 14th, 2009 .

For me family is everything. Nothing matters more than the security of loved ones.

It is the principle of family values that guides my political beliefs and which motivated me to join the Conservatives. I know the events of the last few days have been difficult for me, my family, and my friends, but I believe I have made the right decision. I have no regrets. There’ll be no looking back.

By joining the Conservatives I feel as if I’ve come back to my roots. My new party believes in the family, in welfare, society, community and country. I share those values.

For some time now I have felt out of tune with the views and policies of Plaid Cymru. My politics are very much in line with wanting a stronger Wales within a successful United Kingdom.

Plaid’s ultimate aim of independence for Wales puts this at risk. I argued against independence while a Plaid member. I was in a minority and my view was defeated.

But it is more than just the independence question. During these difficult times we need leadership and direction for Wales and for the United Kingdom.

I believe the Conservatives offer that. What I’ve seen, heard and read about the leadership and ideas put forward by David Cameron and our leader in the Welsh Assembly, Nick Bourne, are very encouraging. I can see a brighter future for Wales and for the United Kingdom under the Conservatives.

Under David Cameron’s leadership the Conservative Party has also shown that it is open to every ethnic community, irrespective of colour, creed or religion, in every part of the United Kingdom.

I believe this is vital in making our society stronger and in bringing about the much-needed change after 12 years of Labour government.

That is why I want to work with Conservatives across the United Kingdom to make that happen. I hope others will join me on that journey.

This is simply pure poison. You’re very welcome in our Party, Mohammed, and here’s hoping everything goes well with you in future.

Mad Murk, you’re talking absolute nonsense.
I come from a working class East London background, and I’m a staunch Conservative. Your pathetic class-war rhetoric of “rich boys” is so outdated it’s actually embarrassing. Perhaps it’s a sign of panic that as Conservatives are making progress around the country and with all demographics you chose to come onto this website just to spew the rubbish you’ve enlightened us all with.
I couldn’t care less how much money you’ve got. If you’ve got the right policies and values, you’ll get my support. And the Conservative Party has.
The Conservative Party is not what you think it is, whether you like it or not – so get over it.

In the Western Mail (daily paper here in Wales) Asghar has said the “final straw” for him leaving Plaid was that Plaid would not let him employ his daughter Natasha. The Tories on the other hand are more open to employing family members. It’s political opportunism.

Does the conservative party really want this serial changeling, I am becoming so tired and disillusioned with all this skulduggery.
