The growth and development of MyConservatives.com is still keeping us busy – if you’re not one of the thousands of people who have registered for the site do check it out.
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that we were running a competition for the candidate who had recruited the most members into their campaign team. The prize – which seemed to cause quite a bit of excitement – was a professional promotional video made by the camerawoman and producer behind WebCameron.
The winner was Caroline Nokes, the candidate for Romsey and Southampton North, with an impressive team of almost 100 new campaign team members. These aren’t just people who are showing their support by joining a Facebook group – they’re showing their support by actually getting involved. That’s a lot of extra boots on the ground.
We’re launching two new competitions today, ending on the morning of Tuesday December 1st. The first is for the next campaign team with the most members. This time we’re delighted to offer the prize of a day’s worth of photography in your constituency by Andrew Parsons, the Conservative Party’s award-winning photographer.
The second prize is directly aimed at the members of campaign teams. We’ve recently made it very easy for campaign leaders to set up telecanvassing (ringing voters using numbers and a script provided online). We’ve also made it easy for members to see exactly how many calls they’ve made, compared with the top caller. So if your candidate has set up a telecanvassing activity, there’s nothing stopping you helping them out by ringing a couple of voters during an X-factor commercial break, or even your lunch break at work.
And if over the next few weeks you make more calls than anyone else, the much-loved Chairman of the Conservative Party Eric Pickles has kindly offered to take you and a ‘chum’ for curry! Curry with Eric (or perhaps an Italian, if you prefer!) is guaranteed to be great fun, as well as a great opportunity to talk to a senior figure about the hot topics of the day.

Romsey and Southampton North is a seat that interests me and it is definitely one to watch. I’ve written more about this on my own blog.

If that’s OK with you, I’d rather have pickles with Edwina Currie.

This is failry hilarious-gaining support by taking the wannabe yuppies (ie working class with aspiration/daily mail readers-who the conserv party is aimed at) out for a curry…. You will slate all the other parties- but I am yet to see any of them resort to such laughable tactics. – it’s hardly neccesary though, Conservatives have won thanks mainly to a vast bunch of ignorant try hards
