Lovely to see Shazia Awan’s conference diary in which she describes herself as a “conference virgin”. I did suggest that since this is my twenty fourth conference the Blue Blog might title this offering as the Diary of a Conference Slut, but that was felt to be too near the knuckle for those in the Party of a more delicate disposition.

I’m getting ready to head to my first Party Conference – I thought I’d be nervous, but I’m just really so excited. I’m proud to be a member of a party with such a fresh and modern outlook and am certainly looking forward to not being a conference virgin anymore.

So after months of planning and prep, the new conservatives.com has gone live – and miraculously for an IT project, it’s on time, delivered ready for Party Conference. Still a few kinks to iron out – postcode search and some login problems, but I hope these will be smoothed out shortly and that they don’t detract from the overall experience.

Our conference is about to start in Birmingham and as I was saying in the latest webcameron clip we’ll be focusing on the financial crisis and publishing our plans for helping people with the downturn and building a strong economy for the long term.
